Wintering With Your Breath

Jan 27, 2021 - A friend told me I should read the book "Wintering", by Katherine May. I had mentioned in class the other day about trying to "like" winter, and she said this book might be of interest. Well, it is interesting. In general, it's about the idea of recognizing that winter has it's own value of going inward, but, more importantly, she says that we can "winter" anytime. She mentions how there is this world we are living in, but then there is this other, slower, more introspective "wintering" world we can step into.
OK...that's something I resonate with, because that's very much what yoga is about. We can practice at any time, any day, and it can bring us into a slower, deeper, more personal world. That regular world is still happening, but we are taking time to step into the winter (yoga) world to reconnect. I'm all about that!
For today's class we will use the breath to find a slower, deeper world, and remind ourselves that we can always rediscover who we are, with just a few breaths. Enjoy. :-)

Communal Dinners
2.23.2021 - I woke up this morning, at 3:11am, thinking of past dinners I’ve had with people, and how I’ve missed that so much. A year ago this week I was in the Dominican Republic leading a yoga retreat with a group of friends. We shared every meal together, of course. Sitting close together, la...
