Recognizing Your Inner Awesome

March 23, 2021 - I took my students in my meditation classes at UVM for a “meditative walk” yesterday. We left our phones inside, and silently we walked around campus for about 40 minutes, taking it all in. At the end we sat down on the grass and I asked everybody to share anything they wanted to share about the experience. Many of them talked about how much they appreciated having the experience and how good it made them feel. Someone mentioned that it was sentimental because they were a senior, and it brought back lots of memories. Another person said that they are pretty anxious, and they felt calmer. They all enjoyed it.
I really found that so fascinating, and also reassuring. In the yoga philosophy there is a lot about how we are great just as we are. We don’t need to add anything, all we need is to take away stuff that might be hiding our Self from our self. And, how totally cool to see that happen with a group of people. Removing all the external stuff and recognizing, “Yes, it’s awesome inside me!”
The other thing that was cool about it is that walking is something these students do everyday. They are walking all the time. So, it’s not like it was something new…it was actually taking something old and adding awareness to it. :-)
I hope you open yourself up to your own inner awesome today…just by giving yourself time to do it.

I am reading a book right now called, “A More Beaut...

In 1990 Hungarian biochemist Katalin Kariko was looking for funding for an idea she had for a new vaccine. She didn’t get any funding. She kept trying…being rejected 80 times in search of funding. Finally, she found funding after searching for five years, in 1995. This year, she ...
