March 26, 2021 - Yesterday was my birthday, and I didn’t have any plans to tell anybody besides people who already knew. I just didn’t really feel like sharing it. But, I went to Barrio to get myself a chocolate croissant as a special treat, and some iced coffee. I had a wonderful time sitting outside enjoying the sun, and when it was time for me to leave I decided to tell the people working there that it was my birthday and I chose to spend the morning there. They were so excited and happy about it! It was great. So, after such a wonderful reception, I thought I’d tell more people since that when to so well.
In my first class I said, “So happy to be here today…because it’s my birthday!” And all the students were saying, “Happy Birthday,” “Have a great day John”, “Eat lots of Cake”….it was awesome. So I figured I should tell more people. I told my next two classes and got just as fantastic a reception…it made me feel super great.
And, because it was birthday, I thought it would be fun to go downtown with my wife and to order a cocktail from a bar window (which is legal during COVID). We went to Honey Road and ordered a “Thyme after Thyme”…an incredible drink that you should order…and, while ordering I said, “And, so, it’s my Birthday!” The guy got all excited, gave us extra ice, straws, a little bag for a drink. It was great. I had an awesome day!
It just makes me think about how great it feels when people say nice things to you. It really feels great when people enthusiastically say, “Have a great day!” So, I feel like we should do that for others every day…even when it isn’t their birthday…but, more than that, we should do that for ourselves. How nice to start each day with, “Have a great day today!” Or, “Today is your special day!” I just think it’s awesome idea. Try it out…see how it goes! AND, by the way, have a wonderful day today!!

In 1990 Hungarian biochemist Katalin Kariko was looking for funding for an idea she had for a new vaccine. She didn’t get any funding. She kept trying…being rejected 80 times in search of funding. Finally, she found funding after searching for five years, in 1995. This year, she ...

Spring - A Feast for Your Senses
March 30, 2021 - The other day I went outside to the wonderful smell of SPRING. I had to tell Jane to come outside and smell it, too. I love the smell of Spring. I don’t know if it’s because it represents the coming of brighter, longer, warmer days…or, it just is a great smell. Either way, ri...
