In 1990 Hungarian biochemist Katalin Kariko was looking for funding for an idea she had for a new vaccine. She didn’t get any funding. She kept trying…being rejected 80 times in search of funding. Finally, she found funding after searching for five years, in 1995. This year, she is nominated for the Nobel Prize for being instrumental in creating the vaccines being used by Pfizer and Moderna…it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say the vaccines she was part of creating will have saved hundreds of thousands of lives, if not millions.
There are lots of people like Katalin, who are pursuing something they truly believe in and they know is the right thing, even if others aren’t on board. And, that’s really what yoga is about. It’s all about really believing in yourself, and knowing you are unique, be you, and that’s a good thing.
Enjoy being you on this special day…one more day that the world has you in it. :-)
