The Light You See By Comes From Inside

Nov 5, 2021 - I was sent a survey, for some reason, about burnout. Maybe it was sent to all professors at the University, but either way, I filled it out. The results weren't positive...I could have told you that. But, the recommendations were interesting. Here's what they said I should do (and what EVERYONE should do to reduce stress):
"Regardless of how you score, it's critical to note that dependence on mobile devices strongly correlates with higher burnout risk."
Isn't that fascinating? And from an extension of that advice, that dependence on social media correlates with higher burnout risk, too.
So, over the last 24 hours I've reduced my use of computer time and social media particularly, and it's been incredibly helpful in making me feel happier. Amazing! In just 24 hours.
The question is, why? Well, I think it's because when we distant from ourselves, and are bombarded with all this negative information, or input that makes us feel "less than", our light dims. And, when we remove that stuff, we see ourselves more clearly, and we fill brighter. You know what's cool about that?! That means that you have light inside of you, and if you allow that light be seen by you and others, it makes yourself and the world a better place. Isn't that awesome?
I invite you today to connect, or re-connect to your inner light. Your phone or Facebook or Twitter won't illuminate you, but you being with yourself will. Have a great day and weekend!

The way to set up...

Life Is Uncertain
Nov. 9, 2021 - In the Bhagavad Gita, the warrior (Arjuna) is advised by his chariot driver/God (Krishna) that he should be his True Self and be a warrior. Of course, it’s all an analogy to life. We are Arjuna, and we are trying to figure out life and there is a lot of uncertainty. What the Bh...

Perspective
Nov. 11, 2021 - I have a squirrel living in my shed. It's been there for a few months, but I've never actually seen it. Yesterday, after I taught my morning class and before I went to work at UVM, I was doing some dishes, looking out the window at the shed. As a watched, a squirrel worked thei...
