Nov. 11, 2021 - I have a squirrel living in my shed. It's been there for a few months, but I've never actually seen it. Yesterday, after I taught my morning class and before I went to work at UVM, I was doing some dishes, looking out the window at the shed. As a watched, a squirrel worked their way between a gap in the door and frame of the shed and went inside.
I immediately had a bout of anxiety. This squirrel needed to be dealt with immediately! Well, not the squirrel, but the shed...so the squirrel could no longer visit. I was totally stressed about this squirrel, knowing there was nothing I could do, because I had to go to work.
Well, off to work I went, and completely forgot about the squirrel. When I got home I saw the shed and thought, "Yup, I need to deal with that at some point."
This all leads to my search this morning for the meaning of "perspective"...a meaning that somewhat blew my mind. Are you ready?
Here it is: "the ability to understand what is important and what isn't."
That's right...perspective is all about squirrels, and yoga is all about recognizing that squirrels don't really matter right now.
Enjoy the practice.

Embrace Your Colors
Nov. 16, 2021 - People tell me sometimes that I must be so calm and happy because I teach yoga and meditation all the time. I tend to agree…I SHOULD be all calm and happy from doing this, right! Actually, in a way, I think I’m the opposite. I find I have a much more diverse palette of emotions ...
