2.25.2021 - Yesterday I went swimming at Perkins Pier. There was too much ice floating near the beach to get in there so I had to go down the shore a bit and worked my way in over some big rocks. I could see the bottom under the water so I stepped in. Then when I took my next step there was nothing under by foot and I feel in and I was completely submerged - wow was that “exciting”. After I caught my breath I swam around for a couple minutes, diving under the surface to look around, pushing floating ice out of my way as I experienced the cold.
The thing about doing winter swimming is there is absolutely nothing else that is happening except the experience of being in your body. There is just me in water. No thoughts. No looking to the future or to the past. Just being 100% in the experience of my body. It’s truly an experience of being a live.
For a lot of people, the experience of being in the body is why a lot of people get into yoga. That’s why I got into yoga. Then for many you start to realize there is a philosophy and other aspects besides the body in the yoga practice…but, sometimes it’s nice to come back to the body and not care about anything else. Let’s do that today in our practice. :-)

You Become the Company You Keep
Jan. 26, 2021 - There is lots of talk online and with friends these days about how people end up believing that white supremacy is a good idea, or storming the capital is patriotic, or believing any of the numerous wild conspiracy theories out there. Something that I like that I saw posted online...
