31-Dec-2021
Dec. 31, 2021 - With this being the last day of the year, there is a lot of time spent on analyzing the past and thinking about how to make the future better. The problem with that is right now is lost. We have just finished another COVID year spent with a lot of uncertainty...but, we made it this far...go us!
I think that happens a lot in transitions between things...instead of letting there be space for the moment, there is analyzing the past and jumping into the future. For instance, when students are heading to graduate at UVM, a main question is, "What next?" Well...how about instead, "GOOD JOB!"
Let's enjoy this moment today. And, really, no matter when you are watching this, it can be a great time to find the present. Hoaw about taking the time of this class and suspending looking forward or thinking about the past. Instead, as I say in the class, "Ride the time machine of your mat and travel to the present moment."
I really hope you enjoy the class, and thanks for being here. :-)

Know the Darkness
Dec. 21, 2021 - Today is Winter Solstice for where I live in Vermont. I'm doing my best to improve my relationship with the winter...well, winter doesn't bother me that much, it's the darkness. So, I found a poem about darkness that the class is based on today:
To Know the Dark by Wendell Berr...
