Getting Back to Balance

Jan 19, 2021 - This morning my wife and I woke up at 4:30am. Instead of talking about all the things we're worried about in the world, which has been the normal conversation when we wake up during the night over the last four years, we were being silly and laughing. We were laughing!! As we were falling back a sleep I realized that laughing and being silly used to be the norm for us.
These last years with our soon-to-be ex-President, along with the pandemic, has definitely got me, and us, out of balance. Instead of being silly most of the time...like we used to be...we have spent an unbalanced amount of time talking politics, being in shock about our country, being bummed about what was going on, being in despair about the devastation of COVID. Basically, we lost our balance. But, I had this feeling, this morning, that balance may be coming back, and it feels great! I have hope. Maybe it's going to be ok. :-)
In yoga it's understood that we can get out of balance, and there are practices to help. A wonderful practice to find balance is through the breath, balancing the breath through each nostril, and also an even length of inhale and exhale. We'll do this exercise in class, which is called Nadi Shodhana. We'll also work on physically finding energetic balance between effort and ease in each posture.
I hope you are discovering a feeling of balance coming your way, and I hope you enjoy this class.

Connecting to Our More Creative Self
Jan. 21, 2021 - Yesterday was Joe Biden's Inauguration...yay! There's a lot I'm happy about in this transition, but for me, right near or at the top is a return to the celebration and cultivation of creativity. I've missed having a reminder from the highest office that America is incredibly div...

Jan. 22, 2021 - I was watching an interview by Anderson Cooper with Amanda Gorman. As I'm sure you know, Amanda is the woman who shared her poem, "The Hill We Climb", at Biden's Inauguration. In the interview she was talking a bit about herself and her life, and that the reason she got into readi...
