All Connected

September 13, 2021 - This past week I was feeing a real need to be around more people, and so Jane and I and some friends went dancing outside. It was so great! Tons of people around, fun music, letting loose. I realized the thing I was missing is a sense of connection, and I really got that on Friday.
Then on Saturday, as I happens, I heard an interview with Suzanne Simard on the NPR show “On Being.” She is the person who discovered that forests are actually interconnected and tress support one another through webs of unseen fungus. Isn’t that cool! I instantly thought about how that is what humans are…a bunch of trees in a forest that are supporting each other through an invisible connection. I definitely felt that on Friday…the feeling of getting “nutrients” from being around other people, whether I knew them or not.
I love to think that even from a distance this a true for groups that have a shared intention, like watching this video or taking any class over Zoom. Even if not in the same space, there is still that sharing of support and energy.
I hope you can feel that as you enjoy today’s class. :-)

Being with Yourself
August 3, 2021 - Maybe the thing I like most about practicing yoga is the experience of being present with myself. Noticing physical, mental and emotional sensations and changes. Recognizing how, even in a couple minutes, I go through a lot of thoughts and feelings. For some reason it just feels...
