July 27, 2021 - Last night I watched the Olympics “Street Skateboard” competition for women. If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out. One of the great things about it was the age of the winners…the gold and silver medalists are both 13-year olds. So cool.
Something that really inspired me about watching the competition was how non-competitive it was. I mean, yes, it’s the Olympics and I’m sure they each wanted to win, but also, you sort of felt like you were watching a bunch of friends down at the local skate park sharing their skills. They were having FUN!
It was a great reminder that even when you are doing something serious (like representing your nation in the Olympic Games) you can still be light and laugh and have fun with the experience. A delightful lesson from the 13-year olds. :-)
