Savoring Time...and Particularly Winter

Jan. 25, 2021 - I really don't like winter. I was born and raised in Wyoming, and then from there moved to Vermont; someplace just as wintery, but darker. I have spent lots of time in my life asking myself why?? Not why I don't like winter, but why I live in this cold place. Arrggg!
BUT, this winter, because of COVID and there is no where else to go, I have been getting outside, no matter the weather, every day. In past winters there would be many days that would pass without venturing outdoors. "It's too cold." "It's too dark." You know, whatever the excuse. But, this winter I've been getting out there, and, this is hard to say...I'm enjoying it!!
Yesterday my wife, dog and I went on Route 100 and took a few different walks. We enjoyed the sound and beauty of walking along a river. Saw an amazing semi-frozen waterfall. Enjoyed the brilliant winter light streaming through the trees. No denying it...we had a good time. :-)
It all makes me think about how sometimes we want to run away from things, but time moves slowly. Change is slow. And, maybe instead of wanting to force change, we should try to experience the moment we are in...because, change does happen. Time does move. And, maybe, possibly, in the quest to move away from the place we are in we are missing something - like the beautiful color of the sun shining on a field of snow.
For class today we enjoy each posture...particularly the postures that may be your "winter." Enjoy. :-)
