Be Who You Are

July 8, 2021 - I am someone who prefers to be happy, and then when I’m not I’m disappointed or judge myself for it. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in this…I think everyone has a desire to be happy. Something I love about the yoga philosophy is that it teaches that it’s ok if you aren’t happy every day. That’s part of life, and in fact, it’s important to really embrace who are you and then start from there.
Here is a sutra from the Radiance Sutras that speaks to the idea.
#103
Abandon all these attitudes
Of wanting to prolong pleasure
And avoid suffering,
Let the heart be itself and feel
Whatever is there.
Freed from clinging and avoiding,
The heart regains it’s poise
And revels in creation.
Plunging deep into its center,
Discover that the heart is moved
By a pulse that is everywhere.
