June 2, 2021 - Yesterday I meet up with three guys who were finishing up a bicycle tour around Vermont going to various breweries. I originally ran into them last week when they started their trip (a previous class). It was really great seeing these guys again. I thought a lot about why it was so great to hang out with them, and the main thing was that they seemed to like me for who I am. They made me feel comfortable with me. They were fascinated by the various adventures I’ve been in, they shared their own various adventures from their bike ride and other trips, and we just genuinely enjoyed each others company. It was really nice.
In the yoga practice, the idea is the same…you are good company and you should practice finding pleasure in hanging out with yourself. You are a good person and you have stuff to offer. So, really, the yoga practice should be about reminding yourself of that. It’s great to get stronger and more flexible and all the that, but enjoying being with yourself and seeing your own goodness is a key element of it all. You are the only person that is you, so you might as well be that person to the fullest and enjoy it. :-)
